| Caltrans 2124 idles on track 3 at San Jose Diridon. 2124 and sister 2123 are the newest units owned by the state, having been built after the final Pacific Surfliner Charger in 2018-2019. The addition of these units allowed Caltrans to retire two of the 15 F59PHIs currently in service. The other 13 units, which were rebuilt to Tier 2 compliance in 2009, will be rebuilt again to Tier 4 emission standards sometime in the future. |
