According to the Chicago Tribune files, this head-on collision occurred on Wednesday, January 20, 1993, between a BN 15 car local and a SP 92 car freight train. These photos appear to have been taken by a professional photographer, although unidentified.

Crews work to clear the wreckage from the head-on collision from the busy tracks near Aurora, IL. Seven locos were involved in the collision between a BN local and a SP freight. Unfortunately, one fatality occurred - the conductor on the SP freight train.
