SOO 556 &2203A
Title:  SOO 556 &2203A
Description:  GP9's and F7A's mixed--- I loved it! Note the black air tanks on the top of the engine so as to make more room under the frame for a bigger fuel tank!

31 cents a gallon
Title:  31 cents a gallon
Description:  It was probably not June 10th, 1968 because that was my operators date on the Milwaukee Road and I was in La Crosse, Wisconsin taking the "rules class" with the Chief Dispatcher back in those days when there was such a person! It was a time when GP9s ran together with F7As and/ or Bs--- and when GP30s & GP35s were new! AND before I forget it was also when gas was 31cents a gallon! That must have been nice you say?! Well considering that people then maybe made 2 or 3 dollars an hour and 5 cents worth of Jelly Beans would last all day--- I suppose all things are relative! But was it better than?! Yes and No is perhaps the correct answer!

at Soo Line Jct
Title:  at Soo Line Jct
Description:  bending the iron or if you wish reversing the switch on the NP westbound main at Soo Line Jct. The bridge heads to the St Paul freight house. How many freight houses were there in downtown St Paul? Let's count them 1) Soo Line 2) Great Northern 3) Northern Pacific 4) Chicago Great Western 5) the Omaha, not to be confused with the CNW and 6) the Milwaukee Road. The St Paul Union Depot saw passenger trains from these six plus also the Burlington and the Rock Island!
