Caltrain 900
Caltrain 900 leads a southbound commute into San Jose Diridon. 900 was the first of 18 F40PH-2s ordered by the California DOT in 1984 for the beginning of Caltrain service. These units replaced the Southern Pacific GP9s, GP40P-2s, and SDP45s then in service. The F40s themselves are facing retirement. Caltrain began electrification in 2020, and full electric service is due to begin in the next year or two.
