Large Photo Caption: "Cars of expensive crash trucks, used on airfields, carefully braced, are switched at Elmira by the Pennsylvania." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1196, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as an H-8SB during May of 1912, rebuilt as an H-9S in May of 1925, and retired in September of 1959 after 47 years of faithful service. |
