PRR 8731, BS-24M, 1955
PFJ. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken at Frankford Junction near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 14 August 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8731, a BS-24M transfer locomotive built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in December of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of service. In this context, it looks like it could be pushing PRR N-5 cabin car #477024!

Alex Charyna General This train is heading westbound on the Connecting Railway - perhaps it was a pusher to get over the Delair Bridge from Jersey? 3/31/2021 4:01:30 PM
Alex Charyna General It's also possible this is westbound from Holmesburg or something... I'm not exactly sure where the crossover from the Delair Bridge to track #3 is located here. 3/31/2021 4:18:29 PM
