| Here is one hard working 4-4-0 that lasted 60 years in service. Built by the Pittsburgh Locomotive & Car Works in November of 1899 for the Kansas City, Memphis & Birmingham, it eventually landed on the Frisco roster through rr acquistions. Specs - serial #2016, class 182, 69" drivers, modest 180 psi boiler pressure, 18x26" cylinders, modest engine weight of 125,000 lb, modest tractive effort of 18,679 lb. Rebuilt by the Frisco shops in 1929. Retired in July of 1950 after 60 years. The date is approximate. C.C. Garyson photo |
