the old Amtrak station at Madison, FL consisted of a 700 foot platform and a gazebo with "Madison, Florida" on the sign. In 2005, hurricane Katrina would destroy gulf coast lines of csx in Mississippi and Louisiana and the federal government would decide to terminate Amtrak in the Florida panhandle. Today, the station sits as a reminder to better times as now the Florida, Gulf and Atlantic operates on these rails. |
