Hagerstown. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide that was taken near Hagerstown, Maryland, on 21 March 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1138, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during January of 1916 and retired in February of 1960 after 44 years of faithful service. It's pushing a freight train which includes CGTX tank car #9548 and PRR N-6 cabin car #980341. |
