PRR "Last Train on Main Street," 1936         
Here is a postal card entitled "Last Train on Main Street: 1837-1936" that was taken in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. No Postmark. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5011, an E-3SD (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata as an E-3D in February of 1910, rebuilt as an E-3SD in June of 1913, and retired in April of 1940 after 30 years of faithful service. The photographer's name is not recorded ~ but the exact date is Friday, 16 October 1936. As such, trains ran on Main Street for 99 years!
