| 17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 05 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2240, #2407, and #2402. #2240 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2407 and #2402 are AF-24's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. They are about to pass under the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata with a 50-car iron-ore train. Visible on the left are the Westbound Classification Yard (with dozens of rusting freight and passenger cars) and HOMER Tower in the distance. |
