Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 28 September 1963. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad F-29 heavy duty flatcar #470008. It's sitting near the Yard Master's office, at the very eastern end of South Juniata Street. Partially visible here (L to R) are the venerable Water Tower (last vestage of the "Age of Steam") and two diesel-electric switchers: #9131 and #8100. #9131 is a BS-10A built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in July of 1948 and rated at 1,000 horsepower. #8100 is a BS-12 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in February of 1954 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. Hollidaysburg's famous "Chimney Rocks" are also visible in the distance! |
