Doghouse. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad rolling stock just East of WYE Tower in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, during March of 1966. Shown here is what the head-end brakeman would have seen while sitting in the "Doghouse." You can almost feel the rockin' and rollin' as the train leaves Hollidaysburg on its way up the Allegheny Mountains ~ via the Muleshoe Curve ~ on its way to Gallitzin and points West! In this photo, the PRR's tracks occupy the original right-of-way for the Allegheny Portage Railway between Hollidaysburg and Duncansville. |
