Mike Woodruff General It's MPEX 5000, which I believe they list as an SD50-3. It's an M-K rebuild of former ATSF SD45 #5501. Santa Fe had made a B-unit out of it; M-K added a cab leftover from their MK5000 project and a 16-645 engine rated at 3,500 hp. It was formerly DM&E 5000, hence the paint job. 3/22/2006 1:26:34 PM
Ron Moraca General Bi*chin' photo from white hot location, Jerry!!!!!!!!!!! 4/12/2010 7:03:59 PM
Richard Piotter General This is one of the finest cab shots I've ever seen of the old DM&E 5000! Mike is right about the locomotive, except for one missing letter in the name. Just missed the "M". They called this one an SD50M-3. Every other detail is correct. Drives me crazy that I can get this literal ONE OF A KIND SD50M-3 locomotive in an HO scale shell, but not in N scale... Guess what I model! :P 3/17/2020 11:22:48 PM
