Rebuilt from SP SD45 8837 by SP at Sacramento in October 1981, using an SD40-2 electrical standards and a 3000-horsepower, 16-cylinder diesel engine, retaining its original SD45 carbody, this unit was mechanically similar to the earlier SD40R rebuilds.
