Here the AD&N passenger special is stopped on the UP (former MP) mainline. The AD&N wye at Monticello was the mainline crossing of the UP with the legs being the two (north and south) connections to the UP mainline just west (to the left) of this picture. The train pulled across the diamond, backed through the north leg (connection) onto the UP mainline where the train is sitting here. When we left, the train headed through the south leg of the wye (connection) onto the AD&N mainline and southbound on to Crossett. |

The locomotive had been built in November 1964 as Kansas Oklahoma & Gulf 700, and was subsequently KO&G 570, then Texas & Pacific 570, then Missouri Pacific 850 and then MP 2000. It was assigned Union Pacific 2386, but never renumbered, and became Ashley Drew & Northern 1815 in December 1989. It became AL&M 1815 in 1991, when the AL&M took over the Arkansas and Louisiana Missouri. |

Arkansas Louisiana & Mississippi GP28’s 1815 and 1816 were pulling into the Kansas City Southern yard in Monroe, Louisianan with a train from Crossett, Arkansas.
