Heading up a long string of varnish is Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 Pacific #1559. It was bulilt by Alco-Richmond in 1920 and lasted in both passenger and freight service until meeting up with the scrapper's torch in November of 1951 at Waycross, GA. Specs - P-5-A class, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 281,000 lb and tractive effort of 40,750 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo. |
