Title:
PRR "Yankee Jet," 1961
Description:
Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 August 1961. Shown here are two Pennsylvania Railroad freight trains. In the foreground, a mixed-cargo freight train is heading downgrade (to the right) toward Altoona and points East. In the background, the "Yankee Jet" ~ the merchandise express from Boston to Chicago in 26 hours or less, powered by six EFS-17M locomotives ~ is rockin' 'n' rollin' upgrade (to the left) toward Gallitzin and points West.
