Album Info:Built in the early 1900's to haul sugar beets, the Great Western Railway (GWR) operates a network of lines in Northern Colorado. The late 1990's saw the railroad expand with the addition of the Burlington Northern's Ft. Collins to Greeley branch and providing switching services in Ft. Collins. In addition, Omnitrax overhauled locomotives at the GWR engine house in Loveland and frequently road tested rebuilt power on GWR trains making for some unusual and colorful consists. The 2000's saw the development of the Windsor Industrial Park. The small individual shippers were being replaced by unit trains of oil, fracking sand, corn, ethanol and windmill blades. I hope you enjoy this look at the GWR.
